JOHN ROBINSON
founder
MigLoo is the brainchild of John Robinson, an inventor and carer with over 35 years of experience working with those challenged by profound disabilities.
John has spent much of the last three decades as a moving and handling trainer, as well as directing and managing Specialist Day Centers. He has also worked with the 'Experts by Experience' team at Oxford and serves on the Standards Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatry.
Alongside his work of championing the needs of the profoundly disabled, John has invented numerous devices and procedures to expand the independence of those he serves. As if that was not enough to fill someone's life, John also provides hands-on respite care for individuals in the community under the Local Authority scheme (formerly the Independent Living Fund), as well as serving as trustee and providing community support and consultation.
Becoming frustrated with the lack of mobile facilities available for this unique segment of our population, John spent years developing MigLoo. His vision for Protorus Solutions, Ltd., MigLoo's parent company, is to create equipment and solutions that give those with profound disabilities flexible, easy-to-use and inexpensive ways to empower themselves, their carers and the professionals that serve them.
John's awareness is not without merit. Mencap says, "There are around 250,000 people in the UK whose basic needs aren’t being met by standard accessible public toilets."
